Invest in Justice, Leave a Legacy

The DC Bar Foundation is grateful for a growing group of generous donors who partner with us to strengthen access to justice for all District residents.

While nationally, the number of donors and total donations to charitable organizations declined in 2022 and 2023, the number of donors to the Foundation grew in 2023, and total individual contributions increased by 8.8%.

We are especially grateful for donors who give year after year. In 2017, the Foundation created the 77 Society – named after our founding year (1977) to recognize donors who give $1,000, $2,500, $5,000, and $10,000 each year. In 2022, we created 77 Society Legacy Tiers to recognize donors with lifetime giving totals of $25,000, $50,000 and $100,000. These tiers are named after three Black civil rights champions – Charles T. Duncan, Charlotte E. Ray, and Charles Hamilton Houston – who are under-celebrated for their contributions to the District and nation.

The Foundation recently made it easier to donate stock and cryptocurrency or to give through your Donor-Advised Fund via our user-friendly online portal.

If you want to discuss a legacy gift or establish an endowment, contact Daryl Byler, director of development & communications, at byler@dcbarfoundation.org or (202) 853-9025.

There is no better way to leave a legacy than to invest in justice for communities that do not have equal access to this core component of human security.
