Save the Date for these 77 Society Events
The DC Bar Foundation’s 77 Society provides crucial funds for our efforts to transform DC’s civil legal aid network. Members of the 77 Society generously donate $1,000 or more to the Foundation each fiscal year (October 1 – September 30), creating a necessary and steady flow of resources that help us continue our work.
Founded in 2017, the 77 Society is made up of generous members who give to the Foundation at various giving tiers: Friends of Justice ($1,000 - $2,500), Advocates of Justice ($2,500 - $4,999), Champions of Justice ($5,000 - $9,999) and Pillars of Justice ($10,000 and above).
To show our gratitude for their generosity and dedication to our work, the Foundation invites 77 Society members to save the date for two special events taking place in 2024:
77 Society Breakfast February 13
Since 2018, the DC Bar Foundation has contracted with NPC Research to evaluate our various programs and initiatives.
Please join the DC Bar Foundation and researchers Kelly Jarvis and Colin Holloway on Thursday, February 13 as they share what we have learned from evaluating the Coordinated Intake and Referral pilot (now known as DC Resource Bridge). Breakfast will be served. All current 77 Society members can RSVP to attend here.
President's Reception May 7
Each year, the DC Bar Foundation hosts a reception in honor of the members of the 77 Society. Please save the date for this year's reception, taking place on May 7, 2024. If you would like to join us for the reception, please either renew your 77 Society membership, or join today.

Thank you to our 2025 grantee partners for joining us for the Grants Information Session.
The DC Bar Foundation’s Civil Legal Counsel, Access to Justice, and General Support grants offer critical support to DC legal aid organizations that assist clients with various civil legal issues such as housing, family, and consumer law. The majority of funds go toward supporting residents in Wards 5, 7, and 8, where there is a concentration of families of four living on an annual income of less than $25,000.
In 2025, the Foundation awarded a record $30.5 million in grants to 36 legal aid organizations. Thank you to those who joined us for our Grants Information Session on January 22. We look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together with our grantee partners this year.
DC Bar Foundation President Benjamin F. Wilson receives President’s Lifetime Achievement Gold Medal Award.
Earlier this month, DC Bar Foundation’s President of the Board of Directors, Benjamin F. Wilson, received President Joseph R. Biden’s Lifetime Achievement Gold Medal Award. The award is a civil award bestowed by the President of the United States, originated from an executive order by President George W. Bush, and established to recognize volunteers that give hundreds of hours per year in service to their communities and the nation.
The DC Bar Foundation extends enthusiastic congratulations to Mr. Wilson on this well-earned achievement.
