At the start of the FY24 Fiscal Year (October 1, 2023 – September 30, 2024), the DC Bar Foundation set a goal to raise $788,500 from law firms, corporations, and individuals located in the DC area and beyond through a combination of fundraising campaigns, appeals, and events.
We are happy to share that, just one and a half months into the fiscal year, our fundraising is off to a strong start, with over $160,000 raised from generous corporations and individuals. Our Call to Action campaign has reached $102,100, or 19% of its $533,000 goal, from nine DC-area law firms. If your workplace would like to support the DC Bar Foundation through Call to Action, please contact Daryl Byler, Director of Development and Communications, at byler@dcbarfoundation.org.
But Call to Action isn't the only campaign contributing to our early fundraising success. DC Bar Foundation CEO Kirra Jarratt recently hosted her annual Chili for a Cause fundraiser, in which she invites friends, family, and colleagues to come together to enjoy several delicious batches of homemade chili, side dishes, and desserts and to learn more about the Foundation's work. This year, Kirra far exceeded her $20,000 goal, already raising $28,419 in support of the DC Bar Foundation – and donations are still coming in.
In addition to gifts received through Call to Action and Chili for a Cause, we have received generous support from DC Bar Foundation leaders, volunteers, and longtime donors. For those looking for a way to support the Foundation, we invite you to make a gift to our Giving Tuesday campaign, which aims to raise $5,000. Your support is critical to the work of the DC Bar Foundation and its impact on the local community. Without it, the gap between legal needs and available resources would continue to grow, and many District residents would be unable to access the representation they desperately require. Together, we are making a difference, but there is still so much more to be done. Your gift to the Foundation this Giving Tuesday will make access to justice a reality for many more District residents.
Thank you for supporting our work.
