As FY24 (Oct. 1, 2023 – Sept. 30, 2024) comes to a close, the DC Bar Foundation extends many sincere thanks to the generous corporate and individual donors who collectively contributed more than $930,000 through various campaigns and events to support our transformative access to justice work in DC.
The Foundation’s private fundraising efforts provide critical unrestricted funding to legal services organizations who support District residents needing civil legal aid. The more than $930,000 raised this fiscal year will help these organizations keep their lights on and doors open as the need for civil legal support continues to rise.
This record-breaking total is comprised of achievements across several individual and corporate giving campaigns. Highlights from FY24 include:
A record-breaking Avenues to Justice, hosted by the Foundation’s Young Lawyers Network Leadership Council. The event raised $77,235 in corporate sponsorships, individual sponsorships, and individual gifts.
A record-breaking Call to Action campaign, with nearly $610,000 raised from 88 firms – 25 of which generously increased their gifts from last year – representing an 8.4% increase over last year’s Call to Action total. Thank you to the firms who have already made commitments to the FY25 Call to Action campaign, which will officially launch in November of this year.
A total of $157,331 contributed from the generous members of our 77 Society. This amount makes up an impressive 16% of our overall private fundraising and more than 90% of our gifts from individuals in FY24, demonstrating the immense value of our 77 Society. Thank you to the eleven new members who joined the Society in FY24, including three members of the Foundation’s Young Lawyers Network Leadership Council and three members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
A record-breaking year for CEO Kirra Jarratt’s annual Chili for a Cause fundraising party, which brought in $30,877 (an 87.5% increase over the previous year) in gifts from generous friends, family, and colleagues.
The creation of a new event, the DC Walk for Justice 5K, which has already raised over $89,000 from 18 corporate and individual sponsors and walkers.
Thank you to these and all of our generous corporate and individual donors for investing in justice in FY24. Together, we are transforming the delivery of civil legal services in the District.
