The DC Bar Foundation launched the Young Lawyers Network Leadership Council (YLN LC) in November 2011 as an opportunity for younger attorneys to further the goal of access to justice within the community. In recent years, the DC Bar Foundation expanded eligibility criteria to include attorneys over 40 who are at the start of their legal careers.

Members serve renewable, two-year terms as ambassadors in order to promote DCBF’s mission and programs and to help raise additional resources to support local legal aid organizations. YLN LC members sit on various committees, including those that oversee the Foundation’s grantmaking and fundraising efforts. In addition to supporting the Foundation’s primary Call to Action campaign, YLN LC members host an annual fundraiser event, Avenues to Justice, that provides critical financial support to DC residents who are underserved and in need of legal representation.​
